PODCASTS PART TWO:

The logistics - tools, tips, & secrets.🎙

(forward this to your bestie who needs that final push to start their podcast)

Time to make your podcast dreams a reality.

Recording equipment:

Listeners are gracious when it comes to audio format and quality. Promise. As long as your audio is not distractingly poor in quality you will do great. Your headphone or phone microphone is often good enough, especially if you record in a carpet or clothes-filled space.

There are great microphones that range from $50-hundreds of dollars. It's key here is to know if you want a plug-and-play set up, if you will be interviewing outdoors, or if you have a permanent setup. Here is a list from the Podcast Host of the different choices and pricing.

What do I do about a name? Plus branding and all that?

Don't stress too much. Start by jotting down all your ideas, and search them up to see if it is too similar to a current show. If you want to have great SEO go with a name that matches some of the main topics and themes you will be covering.

You will need cover art. This can be the same across the entire show and for every episode. Or you can choose to upload individual covers that will appear differently on Spotify. We love to update when brining guests on to the podcast.

Don't worry you can always make changes as your show evolves. If you're struggling with visual branding and colors we like to use generators or use the color picker from your feed/closet/images/style. That will help make it feel authentic to you.

How to actually publish your podcast:

Our platform of choice to launch and distribute is: Spotify for Podcasters (formerly Anchor).

You can find an extensive Q&A section here.

To edit your episode audio, we suggest: Descript, iMovie, and Spotify for Podcasters as well. There is even royalty-free music available on Spotify for Podcasters for intros and transitions. In the past we found that doing your entire episode edits externally and adding your final file had less risk of glitches and mistakes.

Tons of resources for podcast creators

Tools for editing your podcast into social content:

Capcut, Descript, Munch - the trick is going with word-based editing tools. It saves so much time, and being able to easily add auto-closed captions is excellent. If you have invested in a tool like Riversidethey also make it easy to crop video into social sharing dimensions.
